Freedom Day marks a turning point in the history of South Africa. Today, in 1994, we truly became a democratic country as people from all walks of life cast their vote. In election years like 2019 this day is more significant as South Africans go to the polls in just a few weeks.

Many people lost their lives and fought for all citizens to have a voice. Today we remember their sacrifice and the struggle for the free and fair South Africa we live in today. While we enjoy the time-off on days like today, let us not forget why we have these special days.
